RCCAO Welcomes Continued Progress on Highway 413 as Ontario Advances Eastern Section and Key Extensions

Vaughan, ON, Sept. 01, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Minister Prabmeet Sarkaria announced today that the Government of Ontario is moving ahead with the eastern section of Highway 413 and the Highway 427 extension. The province has also named a Construction Manager for the Highway 410 extension, a joint venture consisting of Miller Paving, GIP and Amico.

The Residential and Civil Construction Alliance of Ontario (RCCAO) and its members were on hand in Caledon to mark these latest steps forward in the delivery of Highway 413. 

These latest steps build on the construction work already underway and mark another milestone in delivering critical infrastructure that will provide much-needed transportation capacity in one of the GTA’s fastest-growing regions. 

RCCAO applauds the Government of Ontario for continuing to advance this generational investment. At a time of continued economic uncertainty, investments in critical infrastructure are essential to supporting jobs and long-term economic growth. RCCAO research shows that construction of Highway 413 will create 8,000 jobs and generate $2.3 billion in earnings for Ontario workers, including up to 600 new apprenticeships. 

“Highway 413 is a critical, generational investment in the GTA’s transportation network, providing much-needed capacity and connectivity to support continued growth across the region,” said Nadia Todorova, RCCAO’s Executive Director. “RCCAO has been a consistent supporter since the highway was first proposed, and we commend the Government of Ontario for its continued advancement of this important project, including work on the eastern section and the Highway 410 and 427 extensions. This is an important step forward in delivering the infrastructure needed to keep people, goods and our economy moving.”

The need for transportation infrastructure is increasingly urgent as Ontario communities grow. In 2024, RCCAO research found that congestion costs the GTHA economy $44.7 billion annually. 

RCCAO will continue to advocate for the delivery of Highway 413 and other critical infrastructure projects that strengthen Ontario’s economy, improve mobility and support growing communities.
